out of the darkness – member showcase – ross mcshane

As I have mentioned already I am helping out the staff at Out of the Darkness Theatre Company with our rockstar project. Out of the Darkness Theatre Company is a professional theatre company located in Elgin, Scotland, who create and perform an inclusive and engaging programme of theatre and training. While hanging out in the studio i get to meet a very diverse group of people with multiple skills and interests. Martin McAuslan  who works with the members there and is a power house of creativity and energy introduced me to ROSS MCSHANE who creates a lot of the theatre set backdrops and animation illustrations. While still in between theatre project and during his holiday break Ross has set about drawing portraits of all of the 40 members of the group including me! Really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with when the set is completed. The figures are meticulously detailed and a very good likeness of the subjects are around the size of an action man or a cindy doll but unlike those binary archetypes Ross’s portraits offer a beautiful cross section of diversity and humanity in all of it wonderful detail. Watch out for future posts when Ross has completed his mammoth task.
